Friday, 09/10 - Registration at the Hampton Inn, St. Louis, MO and Mini Downtown Tour:
Enjoy a roadie gathering with optional planned activities and early tour registration at the Hampton Inn St. Louis-Downtown (Union Station) from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM, where a block of rooms has been reserved at a discounted rate of $90 plus tax. The Hampton Inn is located at 2211 Market, across from Union Station. Phone for reservation at 314-241-3200 and be sure to mention that you will be with the Route 66 Association of Missouri Motor Tour. Rooms will be held until August 11, 2004 so make your reservation prior to that date. A "Mini Tour" of downtown St. Louis is planned to experience a big city feel of Route 66.
Saturday, 09/11 - Poker Run Cruisin' 66 - Evening Barbecue at Bennett Spring, MO:
Tour registration will resume at 7:00 AM and the motor tour will depart promptly at 8:00 AM from the Hampton Inn. There will be a poker run cruise from east to west. Poker hands will cost $5 and will be available at registration. NOTE: Please feel free to make the cruise at your own pace and select your own stops. We have arranged for blocks of rooms at Sand Spring Resort and Bennett Spring Inn both located approximately 12 miles northwest of Lebanon, MO (off Route 66).
The Sand Spring Resort is at 1996 Hwy 64 and is on the north side of Bennett Spring State Park. Phone for reservation at 417-532-5857 or 1-800-543-FISH(3474) and mention that you will be with the Route 66 Association of Missouri Motor Tour. Room Rate will be $47 to $62 plus tax. You MUST make your reservation by June 1st at Sand Spring. They will charge it to your credit card and if it's necessary to cancel, you MUST cancel 7 days prior to the reservation date to cancel the charge. The Bennett Spring Inn is at 11525 Hwy 64 and is on the south side of Bennett Spring State Park. Phone for reservations at 417-588-9110 or 1-800-IS TROUT and mention that you will be with the Route 66 Association of Missouri Motor Tour. Room rate will be $60 to $70 plus tax. You MUST make reservations by September 5th. Bennett Spring Inn web site: www.bennettspringinn.com.
If additional rooms are needed, 2 other suggestions are Vogels Homestead Resort, 11451 Hwy 64, phone 417-532-4097 or 1-800-353-4097 and the Munger Moss Motel, 1236 E Route 66, Lebanon, MO, phone 417-532-3111. No formal arrangements have been made for the tour at either of these locations.
Saturday night's outdoor barbecue will be an informal event catered by Sand Spring Resort.
Sunday, 09/12 - Exotic Animal Paradise - Picnic and Tour Conclusion at the Trolley, Caterville, MO:
Includes a 7:30 AM non-demoninational worship service. We will then cruise to Exotic Animal Paradise, 8 miles west of Marshfield, MO. Discount tickets of $7.50/adult and $5/child will be available (mention the Route 66 Association of Missouri Motor Tour) for the 9 mile tour of exotic animals and rare birds who await your visit. You may also visit their gift shop. Cruisin' 66 will continue to the trolley in Carterville.
There will be "open driving" during the rest of the day and there are no other scheduled stops between Exotic Animal Paradise and the Picnic and Tour Conclusion at the trolley in Carterville. Thanks to Larry Tamminen and Bob Palmer, our hosts for the picnic at the trolley.
